GEICO PHILANTHROPIC AWARDS TOOL GRANTS THROUGH COLLISION REPAIR EDUCATION FOUNDATION

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – November 29, 2010– The Collision Repair Education Foundation (formerly the I-CAR Education Foundation) and GEICO Philanthropic Foundation are proud to announce the winners of the GEICO Tool Grant Program. The GEICO Tool Grant Program will offer $1,500 in tool purchases for the selected schools. The schools selected for this award are in New York, Washington, DC, Florida, and California, and were applicants for the Education Foundation’s most recent Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant. The winning schools are:
Chantilly Academy (Chantilly, VA)
Cypress College (Cypress, CA)
Lake Technical Center (Eustis, FL)
Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (Port Ewen, NY)

“The Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant program not only invests in collision repair schools and students, it provides a stark reminder of the needs these schools have to fund and equip their collision programs to properly teach their students,” said Scott Kruger, Collision Repair Education Foundation Executive Director. “GEICO has stepped up and made a direct investment into the students who will be our future collision repair technicians. On behalf of these four schools, thank you to Mr. Lyons and everyone at GEICO for their continued donations and support.”

“We are honored to support such a worthy cause,” said Don Lyons, senior vice president of GEICO. “We know how important it is to develop the appropriate skills to receive such a technical degree. The students at these schools show great potential and we’re happy to support them.”

GEICO has already committed to continuing the tool grant in 2011, and has pledged $15,000 to the Education Foundation’s Collision Repair Education Campaign.
